Millwall set to need outs before any more major transfer dealings

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Millwall are not set to complete too much more incoming transfer business – unless there are outgoings.

The Lions have made four signings in the window but Aiden O’Brien is the only notable exit, joining Sunderland on a free transfer.

“There are a few areas that would be great to add but at the same time you’ve got to remember  there haven’t been many players leaving the building,” said Millwall manager Gary Rowett, inset.

“At some stage you have to balance the ins and outs.

“I’m mindful of the fact I don’t want to start the season with 24 senior pros and you end up with six not even on the bench.

“We have to find the right balance for the group. It’s a really tight group and I don’t want to affect that.”

Millwall are interested in a loan return for Jayson Molumby but Brighton have already made it clear they want to run the rule over the

21-year-old, who has been called up on senior international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

“We’ve had half an eye on the Molumby situation – it’s well-documented,” said Rowett. “But we can’t sit around and wait for that to be rectified.

“Probably the bigger concern is that we’ve got three players who have played right wing-back either in pre-season or before that who are all out.”
