Millwall set to test Tom Elliott’s match fitness as they weigh up return at Swansea

Millwall could test Tom Elliott’s readiness to return to the first-team fray later this week – but manager Neil Harris is keen to avoid taking any risks with the striker.
The former AFC Wimbledon man suffered a shoulder dislocation last month against Blackburn Rovers.
“We’ve got to be really careful with the injury he has got that we don’t push him too soon.
“Much as we want him back on the field, we can’t push him to soon.
“We’ll probably have a little look later in the week to how he is progressing. He is working individually and in groups every day but it is non contact. The longer it goes on the more strength he has in his shoulder.
“He is nearly at full strength in the gym but it is making sure he has got strength in a football game, getting pulled all around from pillar to post. Let’s be honest, he doesn’t get a lot of protection from referees at our level.
“He is a big, physical part of the team. But if we push him too soon then we’d lose him for the season. That’s the delicate balance. We’ll have a look for this Saturday, if not then hopefully he’ll be back next week.”
Right-back Conor McLaughlin has also been missing with a quad strain.
“It is frustrating,” said Harris. “Three times we have had him outside and he has been almost a day away from full training but then broken down at the final hurdle – he’s been at 90 or 95 per cent.
“It is that final sprint or striking the ball – that’s the danger with the quad and the hardest part.”
