Millwall sign experienced former Middlesbrough goalkeeper Liam Roberts

Millwall have signed experienced goalkeeper Liam Roberts on a one-year contract.

The 29-year-old, from Walsall, is a free agent since leaving Middlesbrough at the end of last season.

Roberts is the second keeper signed in the summer transfer window after the Lions also moved for Lincoln’s Lukas Jensen, paying an undisclosed fee for the Danish stopper.

He has won personal accolades including League Two’s Golden Glove award in the 2021-2022 campaign as well as being named in the PFA Team of the Year and Team of the Year.

Millwall’s number one Matija Sarkic passed away in the middle of June while Bartosz Bialkowski was released at the end of last season.

Roberts has played 258 matches at first-team level in all competitions – ranging from the Championship to National League.
