Millwall striker Lee Gregory reveals demand from Lions boss Harris

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Lee Gregory popped up with a late leveller at Nottingham Forest last night – then revealed the target set by Millwall manager Neil Harris.

The forward tapped home from close-range in the first minute of stoppage time as the Lions secured a 2-2 draw at the City Ground.

Gregory, 30, has four goals this season and has netted in back-to-back matches for the first time since the end of March.

The Sheffield-born frontman said: “In training the gaffer pulled the strikers to one side and said: ‘You’re not going to score every game – but as a unit I want the strikers to get one a game’.

“We’re on that target and now we need to keep it up – whether that is me, Moro, T [Tom Elliott], Bradders or Aiden. We have to keep getting in the right place.

“We’re getting chances, we had lots in the first half. Maybe I should’ve put my header away [which hit the bar]. Sometimes it is just like that and lucky enough we got another one.

“We were better than them. I think they had one shot in the first half and it goes in. That’s our luck at the moment. I’m so happy to turn it around and get the draw – that’s what has happened to us in a couple of games and it feels good to do it back.

“We kept digging in and digging in – we got our luck.”

The question is whether the comeback at Forest can be followed up by a positive result against Aston Villa, who sacked boss Steve Bruce yesterday.

“Last season away from home we beat Leeds 4-3 in a great game and it turned our season around,” said Gregory, who made his 200th appearance for the club on Wednesday night. “Hopefully we kick on with Villa at home on Saturday. I can’t wait for that now.”
