Millwall striker Tom Bradshaw gives his reaction to ending lengthy spell off the scoresheet
BY KAI BENNETT
Tom Bradshaw says it was a “great feeling” to finally get back on the scoresheet.
The striker netted his first goal in 2021 as Millwall defeated Bristol City 4-1 at The Den on Saturday.
“We really applied ourselves,” Bradshaw told the club’s official website.
“A lot of teams could take the route of that we haven’t got much to play for but it’s a great group of lads and the mentality has always been right ever since I’ve been at the club. We try our best to do things as well as possible. On another day we could’ve had six or seven goals.
“It was a great performance and it was great to to get back on the score sheet.
“The message [from the gaffer] was mainly to make sure to stretch them in the first 10-15 minutes, make space in the middle of the park for our midfielders to get the ball moving and switching play. We did that really well, we stretched the game which made the game easier for us.
“[On his goal] This year I probably haven’t been at my best. But I’ll always try as hard as I can to put the ball in the net for the team. Today I showed a little bit more composure than I have done in the last couple of weeks and do what I do in training and take a breath and put the ball in the corner. It was a great feeling to see the ball hit the back of the net.
“The starting places have been few and far between because of the competition in the attacking department. For me I’m just happy to be out there and playing again. Regardless of our situation in the league, I’m just enjoying being out there and I will give everything for the team.
“The team will give everything as well, that will be no different next week. Today we really applied ourselves and we put in a really good performance, so hopefully we’ll do the same next week.”
