Millwall striker Tom Elliott dislocates shoulder in Blackburn Rovers defeat

Neil Harris admitted Tom Elliott is facing time on the sidelines after dislocating his shoulder in tonight’s 2-0 home loss to Blackburn Rovers.

The big frontman went off inside the opening minutes at The Den.

Harris said: “He has dislocated his shoulder. We’ll have to see how it settles down but he’ll certainly be missing for a period of time.”

The Lions conceded in the 86th minutes – Joe Nuttall getting lucky as James Meredith’s clearance struck Shaun Hutchinson and then glanced off his temple to cross the line. Adam Armstrong drove home a second moments later.

It was a game poor in quality.

Harris said: “It was a 0-0 draw, wasn’t it?. I can’t remember many chances for either side. We had some good balls in the box but didn’t really attack them.

“I never felt like we were going to concede a goal. It is another learning curve really about where we’re at. If you switch off for a minute against good sides you are going to get punished. We switched off for one moment in 88 minutes and the ball goes in our net.

“In the last four games we’ve had luck and momentum to win the games. Today it wasn’t for us.

“The second goal is disappointing. If we don’t concede the second straight away then we can maybe build some momentum.

“Losing Tom was a big blow because he has been key for us recently.”

Harris did not feel the opening goal was offside.

He said: “It doesn’t look like it from the footage I’ve seen. I’m not bemoaning offside by an inch or two. We don’t defend it well enough – it is two-versus-three and we let a runner go. Then we make a 50-50 decision in the box and get it wrong. It’s a poor goal to give away.”
