Millwall won’t rush search for new head of recruitment after Aldridge’s exit for Stoke City

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Gary Rowett will play a part in Millwall’s search for a new head of recruitment.

It was announced over the weekend that Alex Aldridge, pictured below, had left to take up the same position at Stoke City.

And the Lions manager says that he had already had a conversation with chairman John Berylson and chief executive Steve Kavanagh.

Rowett said: “I think between all of us we’ll all have an input in what way we want to go next or which type of person we want next.

“Ultimately that person has to work with me on the football side of things and he has to work with Steve on the negotiating and commercial side of signing players.

“It will be all our decision, but certainly as manager I’ll get a good say in that. I’m pleased with that. Anyone in the building, the more you have between yourselves then it’s only going to serve to make Millwall a stronger club moving forward.

“How quickly we do that, I don’t think we’re going to be in a huge rush. But at the same time I’m sure we’ll sit down with a few people and have a conversation.”
