Millwall’s Jayson Molumby on being denied a “blatant” penalty in Bristol City draw

Jayson Molumby reckons he was deprived a “blatant” penalty on Saturday.

The Republic of Ireland U21 international was incensed that referee Andy Davies did not penalise Adam Nagy.

“It was high studs – to the knee. I’ve got the marks to prove it. It’s a foul,” said Molumby, on a season-long loan from Brighton.

“They were two blatant fouls on me. Everyone who watches Millwall regularly knows I don’t go down easily or for any reason.”

The Lions saw the gap to sixth place drop to five points as Preston lost 2-0 at Fulham.

“It’s all to play for,” said Molumby, pictured below right.

“We just need to keep picking up points. Anything can happen in football.

“I don’t see why we can’t still do it. We’re not getting ahead of ourselves. Wigan are going on a crazy run and got out of the relegation zone.

“We just need to stay in and around it.

“The first half [against Bristol City] was nowhere near good enough. The second half we came out much better and when you balance if off, a point each is probably fair.”

Millwall manager Gary Rowett feels his side struggle to conjure up moments of individual brilliance like some of their promotion rivals.

“It’s just that final ball and maybe a bit of luck,” said Molumby.

“We had a few goal-line scrambles where if it falls to the right player we come away with three points.

“It’s a bit unlucky, things not quite clicking but we got into good areas.”
