Millwall’s Zian Flemming makes scoring look simple

Zian Flemming has made some of his recent goals look easier finishes than they are, according to Millwall manager Gary Rowett.

The Dutchman, a club-record signing for £1.7million from Fortuna Sittard in July, has scored five goals.

Flemming, 24, struck 12 times in 28 Eredivisie fixtures last season.

And the Amsterdam-born attacker has been in the scoring groove since claiming his first Lions goal in the 2-1 win over Blackpool in September.

Before blanking in last night’s 3-0 victory over Watford, Flemming had scored five goals in as many matches.

“What you find with any player is that suddenly you go and score a brilliant goal and in the next game you just have that little bit more belief about where to gamble and read the game,” Rowett told the South London Press.

“When you’re in a bad run of form you perhaps hang around on the edge of the box waiting for the ball, when you are in a good run you anticipate where things are going to drop and things seem to fall for you.

“Part of that is an understanding of the game, part of that is a reading of the game and part of that is having the ability and confidence to shoot early.

“Even the goal on Saturday [against Bristol City], would some other players maybe have another touch? Or would they slash at it? It’s hard to know. But what you would say is that he still has a little bit of work to do.

“It’s a good, controlled finish which he made look very easy. Good players make the game look easy. Zian makes things look quite simple, at times.

“I still think he is adapting to the Championship. In his overall performances we can find him earlier. He is still building those relationships with team-mates.

“Five goals in five and to still be improving, that shows he has got lots and lots of potential to come.”
