‘More clinical’ – Chelsea boss makes attacking admission after Bournemouth goalless draw

Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino admitted his side are ‘lacking something’ in the final third after their goalless draw at Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Blues managed 14 shots – six of which were on target – but they failed to score for the second Premier League outing running.

Chelsea, who spent more than £450million in the last transfer window, are 14th in the table and have only won once this season in the top flight.

“Disappointed because we didn’t win,” said the former Spurs boss.

“I think the players fought, they tried to compete, the effort was massive.

“I cannot lie, I think we are missing something in the last third – more calm, more relaxed, to be more clinical in front of goal.

“That is about giving confidence and trust in your offensive players. I think we were creating chances, fighting, I think it’s about the process.

“I think overall the performance was good in terms of effort.”
