Erith motorcycle racer, Casey O’Gorman must be thinking what he has to do to get a break after failing to score yet again in dramatic ending to the European Talent Cup race at round two in Valencia, Spain.

The 15 year old, who scored no points in the first round after fracturing his wrist in qualifying, had no problems this time as he placed his 250cc Honda in ninth place on the grid for the Sunday’s two races.

Lining up in 24 degree temperatures, O’Gorman got a flying start to slot into fourth place by the first corner for the first lap of 16, giving himself the best chance to breakaway with the leaders.

A small group formed at the front with O’Gorman battling it out in third but in true ETC fashion the group became 20 riders again within a couple of laps.

Nine laps to go and Max Quiles had hit the front and pulled clear as the chasing group scrapped amongst themselves, leaving O’Gorman in a battle for the remaining podium places.

Four laps left and a group of eleven riders had broken free in the fight for the podium but Quiles was now just a dot in the distance.

Final lap and disaster struck once again just as it looked as if O’Gorman had second place in the bag.

Entering the final corner, Jesus Rios collided with Alberto Ferrandez, collecting O’Gorman and sending him tumbling into the gravel trap.

Unfortunately, whilst the two other riders were able to compete in the second race, O’Gorman fractured two bones in his left foot and was declared unfit to race.

With another non scoring ride the championship looks a long way away already with O’Gorman yet to score a point.

Quiles now leads the championship on 83 points after running away with the weekend’s two races.

The next round of the championship will take place at Jerez in Spain in two weeks time.
