Neil Harris: Millwall’s attacking players failed to show enough anticipation in derby draw

Neil Harris was left disappointed by Millwall’s finishing touch in today’s 1-1 draw with Brentford.

The Lions played more than an hour against 10 men after Henrik Dalsgaard’s first-half dismissal.

But Millwall could not make that numerical advantage count as they failed to produce enough shots on target.

Harris brought on Tom Elliott for the injured Ben Thompson, who went off with a suspected hamstring problem, but the shift to 4-4-2 did not translate into clearcut chances although Jed Wallace’s cross came back off the bar.

“It was 11 v 10 and I put another centre-forward on,”Tom came on and did so well against Sheffield United. We didn’t really give him the right service.

“As a striker myself, you want balls in the box. But you’ve also got to anticipate them. My attacking players didn’t anticipate balls into the box.”
