Neil Harris reveals when Jayson Molumby could make his first Millwall appearance

BY JAKE SANDERS

Neil Harris is targeting Millwall’s Carabao Cup game against West Brom next Tuesday as a potential game for for summer signing Jayson Molumby to make his debut.

The 19-year-old joined on a season-long loan deal from Brighton & Hove Albion last month, but the midfielder is short of match fitness after missing the entire pre-season and is expected to miss Lions’ Championship clash at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

“Hopefully he’ll get some minutes against West Brom in the [Carabao] Cup,” Harris said. “I don’t think he’ll be fit for West Brom away Saturday.

“We’re looking at using the West Brom League Cup game almost like a pre-season [game] for some other lads to get minutes and then come off and feature after that.

“That team I picked [Saturday] won’t necessarily be the team I pick next weekend, even for a manager that likes to pick a settled team.

“That won’t be the case this season. I will pick a team to win every game and if a player comes in and does well and doesn’t play the following game, there’s no argument with me and the player – that’s just the way it is. You come in the next game or the game after that.

“When you’re 1-0 up with 10 or 20 minutes to go and you look at the bench and you can bring on the likes of Ryan Leonard and Tom Bradshaw who we paid over £1million for, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Jiri Skalak who has been class over pre-season, Shane Ferguson, how good was he last year, Tom Bradshaw, Shaun Hutchinson, who’s back at his best, the goalkeeper [Bialkowski], we’re in a fortunate position at the moment and that’s the competitiveness I want in the group.”
