Newcastle set to return with Marc Guehi bid – with final decision down to Crystal Palace defender

Newcastle are set to return once again with a bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in the final week of the transfer window.

There is a good chance the Magpies’ fifth attempt will be accepted.

However, any decision on Guehi’s club on August 31, when the window is shut, will be firmly down to the player himself.

The South Londoners want £70million – a club record fee – for the former Chelsea youngster.

Guehi has started and captained the Eagles in both of their Premier League outings so far.

The Eagles have also sold Joachim Andersen to Premier League rivals Fulham for £30million.

Oliver Glasner’s side will now accelerate their chase for Wolfsburg centre-back Maxence Lacroix.
