Nigel Adkins reveals extent of Chuks Aneke’s injury and provides Akin Famewo update

Nigel Adkins has revealed the extent of Charlton top scorer Chuks Aneke’s injury.
The former Arsenal trainee was absent for the Addicks’ fine 2-1 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Defender Akin Famewo, on loan from Norwich, was also missing for the second week in a row.
Adkins revealed: “[Aneke] felt his groin. He came on at Doncaster last week, had the last ten minutes and presented with a slight groin issue. He’s not trained with us this week. We’ve got excellent medical staff and he’s been in their care.
“I’m hoping he can be on the grass with us this week and maybe be available for the weekend, that’s what we’re after. We think it’s only a very minor situation, all being well.
“We’ve got to manage everybody. Akin, for example. He felt something the week before, we’ve managed him through the course of the week. If needs had been, I could have had him on the bench or even started him today but what we’ve got is another week to get him a lot better in respect of all the games that we’ve got coming up.”
Northern Irish international Conor Washington is still missing with a hamstring problem but Adkins was unable to put a timescale on his return yet.
