‘No animosity’ – Oxford United boss Karl Robinson gives his verdict on Sean Clare’s Charlton move

Oxford United manager Karl Robinson says that Charlton Athletic new boy Sean Clare left on amicable terms.

The 24-year-old moved to the South London club for an undisclosed fee earlier this week.

Clare made 17 appearances for the U’s after signing from Hearts in 2020.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, Robinson said: “It was the right thing to do for all of us.  Sean came in, he worked hard and there’s a tremendous relationship between us moving forward.

“He felt for his development it was best he moved on, he wants to be an ‘8’. If you look at that position, we already have a load of players in there – James Henry, Marcus McGuane and Cameron Brannagan.

“He goes with our wishes and our blessings. There’s no animosity there whatsoever, he’s a talented young man who we hope does really well.”
