‘No fear’ – Accrington boss looks ahead to Charlton Athletic trip

Accrington boss John Coleman insists that his side will travel to Charlton Athletic on Saturday with no fear.

The Reds head to The Valley one point above the League One relegation zone, but they do have two games in hand over the teams currently in the bottom four.

Dean Holden’s side are 16th in the League One table and eight points clear of trouble.

However, the Addicks are without a win in their last three outings.

The reverse fixture – the opening game of the 2022/23 season – saw these two sides play out a 2-2 draw at the Wham Stadium.

Speaking to Accrington Stanley’s YouTube channel, Coleman said: “The actual concept of going to Charlton is that it’s going to be a tough game to go to.

“They’re going to be wanting to win and we’re going to be wanting to win.

“We have no fear. We had no fear going to Ipswich and we won’t have any fear going into any team we play.

“We believe that we can put out a team. Yeah, we have limited resources, but we will do our best.

“We have shown time and time again that money doesn’t mean anything, and we have won the league on a couple of occasions with the lowest budget and the second lowest budget.

“We have 13 more games now to try and get ourselves into a position where we’re safe to have a crack next year.”
