Non-league round-up: Dulwich Hamlet win at Potters Bar Town as Welling drop fears deepen
Dulwich Hamlet climbed away from the Isthmian League Premier Division drop zone after a 1-0 win over Potters Bar Town on Tuesday evening.
David Bremang scored the only goal in the 11th minute as the Hamlet moved nine points clear of the bottom four. Dulwich host Cheshunt tomorrow as they look to create even more breathing space with eight league games to go.
It was the first time Dulwich had won away in the league since their 3-2 victory at Canvey Island on September 7.
“They knew I was annoyed and upset with them after Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Hashtag,” boss Bradley Quinton told Dulwich’s YouTube channel.
“They started really well – on the front foot.
“To a man they stood up and were counted. We could have gone in more than 1-0 in front at half-time.
“They threw everything at us and I was pleased the boys put their bodies on the line. We played some good football and defended well.”
Welling United’s hopes of securing National League South safety were dented on Tuesday night as relegation rivals Enfield beat Hampton & Richmond Borough 1-0.
Rod Stringer’s side, who lost 3-2 at Truro on Saturday, are five points from safety. They head to Farnborough tomorrow.
“It’s a mini league,” said Stringer. “We have to find some results from somewhere – it’s as simple as that.
“I wasn’t too disappointed with us last Saturday but that’s gone now. We have to be organised and try to give it our best shot.
“We have to go out there and try to make it happen. We are where we are because we haven’t been good enough all season. We’re in this position and we’re going to need to get behind the boys – even if they don’t want to get behind me.
“We will do everything we can to give this club a bit of belief we can get out of it.”
