Nottingham Forest land former Charlton fans’ favourite Lyle Taylor
Nottingham Forest are set to announce the signing of Lyle Taylor – with the former Charlton striker reportedly already having put pen to paper on a three-year contract.
The frontman was a huge fans’ favourite in SE7 but declined to feature in the closing weeks of the 2019-20 season, claiming he did not want to risk picking up an injury that prevented him securing a lucrative move.
And Forest will announce his arrival imminently.
Taylor had been the subject of multiple bids from Brentford in August 2019 – the last believed to be worth £4million – but they were rejected by then Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet.
The former Millwall and AFC Wimbledon forward turned down a lucrative new deal from Duchatelet. And East Street Investments, who took over running the football club in January, were also unable to agree fresh terms with the Montserrat international.
Taylor scored 11 times in 22 matches for Charlton in the Championship but missed 13 matches after sustaining knee ligament damage while away with Montserrat.
His last outing in an Addicks shirt came in the 1-0 home loss to Middlesbrough on March 7.
Taylor ran down his contract with Wimbledon to sign on a free transfer for Charlton and he bagged 25 goals in 45 appearances in the 2018-19 season.
