Nya Kirby signs Crystal Palace deal until June 2022

Nya Kirby has signed a long-term contract with Crystal Palace.

The 18-year-old midfielder’s deal has been extended until June 2022.

Kirby signed a professional deal with the Eagles in February 2017, having previously been on the books at Tottenham Hotspur, and was a member of England’s victorious FIFA U17 World Cup-winning squad later that year. He played in six of the Three Lions’ seven games in India, scoring the crucial penalty in a shootout win against Japan in the last-16.

Kirby appeared in the UEFA U19 Championships in Finland in the summer of 2018 .

He has featured in a few pre-season friendlies for Palace including the 2017 Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong, and was named on the first-team bench against his former club Spurs in February 2018.

Kirby said: “I see this as an amazing achievement and I am very excited to have the chance to sign this new contract. I know though that the hard work starts here and I need to keep working on my game to give myself the best opportunities for the future.”

Chairman Steve Parish said:“I am delighted that we have been able to sign Nya to a longer contract. We are a club who has a proud history of bringing young players through the ranks, and this is another deal that shows our commitment to continuing that tradition.”
