O’Gorman brings home the silverware at Silverstone

Casey O’Gorman won the second race of the British Talent Cup round at Silverstone at the weekend after crashing out of the lead of the first.

Eager to get his championship challenge back on track, the Erith schoolboy put his mark down early, setting the fastest times in practice before being pipped for pole in qualifying.

Getting the holeshot in Saturday’s race, O’Gorman wasted no time in pulling a gap by nearly a second on the chasing pack, headed by pole man Charlie Farrer and Harvey Claridge.

Four laps in, rounding Brooklands near the end of the lap, O’Gorman’s bike suddenly twitches at the rear, straightens up, then goes again and sends the youngster sliding off across the grass, yet again, in a very strange incident.

Despite crashing out on Saturday, O’Gorman still managed to set the 3rd fastest lap time to put himself on the outside of the front row for Sunday’s 25 lap race and was quickest in morning warm-up.

O’Gorman again, rockets off the lights to lead the pack, although Claridge sticks with him.
Six of 24 laps completed and O’Gorman and Claridge have broken free from a five rider chasing pack.

Lap 11 and Claridge sets the fastest lap and sweeps around the outside of O’Gorman into Brooklands.

Unfortunately for Claridge, his perfectly timed move on O’Gorman was under a waved yellow flag, meaning the overtake was illegal, resulting in a long lap penalty, dropping him out of contention.

Four laps to go and the two riders go down, bringing out the red flag with the result being called due to the race being past two thirds distance, handing O’Gorman his 3rd win, keeping up his 100% win record when he finishes.
