Erith motorcycle racer Casey O’Gorman surprised a lot of regulars in his wildcard debut ride in the final round of the Moto3 Junior World Championship in Valencia at the weekend with two solid mid table finishes.

Riding the 250cc KTM that he’ll be competing on in the Redbull Rookies Cup next year for the first time, the 14 year old qualified 21st out of 30 riders for the two 18 lap races on the Sunday despite three crashes in the mixed weather conditions.

On a drying track for race one, O’Gorman kept his head down and out of trouble as he steadily worked his way through the field to finish 17th and ahead of many regulars including third place championship finisher and double race winner David Munoz.

Wary not to throw the bike down the road in the final race O’Gorman kept his cool in the fiercely battling pack to take the flag in a drag to the line for 18th place, knocking a second of his best time from race one and finishing only 26 seconds behind the winner and 2021 champion, Daniel Holgado.

O’Gorman said, “Massive Thanks to Cuna de Campeones for supporting me since 2018. It’s been an amazing journey so far and a great way to end a very hard season. Thanks to everyone for the support.”
