Palace boss Patrick Vieira provides positive Wilfried Zaha and Tyrick Mitchell injury update ahead of Liverpool

Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira says both Wilfried Zaha and Tyrick Mitchell trained on Friday ahead of tomorrow’s clash at home to Liverpool.

Zaha has missed the last three outings after he suffered a hamstring injury in the goalless draw with Newcastle.

Tyrick Mitchell was forced off in the 82nd minute with an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw with Brentford last weekend.

“Both of them trained with the team,” Vieira said of Mitchell and Zaha ahead of Liverpool tomorrow.

“Wilfried is getting better and better. He trained this morning. He had the last training session this morning, but we will have to wait for tomorrow to see the reaction.”

Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has picked up a calf injury and is expected to be sidelined until the end of March.

Nathan Ferguson, who has only played eight minutes of football for the Eagles since joining in July 2020 from West Brom, has returned to training with the first team.

The defender played 45 minutes in Palace’s U21 game against Manchester United during the week.

“Sam will not be involved tomorrow,” said Vieira.

“He will be out with a calf injury for the next couple of weeks.

“Nathan played 45 minutes with the U21s, and he trained this week with the team, so he is making progress, which is really good for us.

“James McArthur has been in full training with the team this week. We will be a part of the squad tomorrow.”
