Palace boss Roy Hodgson provides Wilfried Zaha injury update ahead of Everton

Crystal Palace will be without Wilfried Zaha for their Premier League clash against Everton tomorrow.

The Ivorian has been sidelined since he picked up a groin injury in the 2-1 win against Leicester City in Hodgson’s first game back at Selhurst Park.

Zaha, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is Palace’s top goalscorer and appearance holder in Premier League history.

Right-back Nathaniel Clyne has been missing since the 5-1 win at Leeds United.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t recovered anybody since last time, but we haven’t lost anybody either,” said the 75-year-old.

“Nathaniel Clyne, we’re hoping will get onto the training field next week. We also hope to get Wilf [Zaha] back next week. They’re two things to look forward to, but not for this game.”

Vicente Guaita has returned to training after suffering a calf injury before the trip to Leeds.

Sam Johnstone has started the past two outings and earnt praise from his manager following both games.

“He’s done extremely well, there’s no doubt about that,” Hodgson said of the ex-West Brom stopper.

“His performances in the first half against Leeds and Southampton show we have a top, top goalkeeper.

“We got him [last summer] with stiff competition from other clubs because when he was leaving West Brom on a free transfer, he’d already made his way into an England squad.

“We knew we were signing someone who would compete with Vicente for the position. When Vicente gets fit, that competition will start once again – it will be up to me to decide which of the two goalkeepers I want to put in the team.

“I am in a fortunate position if the two are fit because I’d feel confident going into the game with either goalkeeper.”
