Palace defender: We’ll end our poor run at Selhurst Park

James Tomkins insisted that Crystal Palace will break their home hoodoo – after another goalless 90 minutes at Selhurst Park on Saturday for his side.

The centre-back, 29, has been in good form alongside Mamadou Sakho this season but was powerless to prevent Wolves from leaving with all three points thanks to Matt Doherty’s second-half goal.

Palace have failed to score in all four of their home games in the 2018-19 season.

Tomkins said: “It’s one of those things where football is different and in the next home game we could score a couple, you just never know, football is like that. I am sure it will come.

“We are creating the chances and if we weren’t creating them that would be a problem but it just wasn’t to be today.”

Wolves sat back after Matt Doherty’s goal.  They absorbed Palace pressure, which ultimately came to nothing.

Tomkins said: “They are a hard team to break down, we had a few chances but nothing clearcut. They got a few good blocks in there but it’s disappointing to lose after we dominated really.

“They are always likely to get chances and from one of those they got the goal and that is the difference really.

“The fans have always been good, both our home and away support is very good but it is just a shame they didn’t have anything to cheer about, they go away unhappy just like ourselves.”
