Palace keeper in talks for Man United switch

Manchester United want Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland as a back-up to David de Gea.

Martin Dubravka, who was on loan from Newcastle United, returned to his parent club at the start of the January transfer window.

Butland is the third-choice goalkeeper under Patrick Vieira, with Vicente Guaita and Sam Johnstone ahead in the pecking order.

The deal for United to bring Butland to Old Trafford was on the table in the summer transfer window.

But Butland broke his hand in a pre-season friendly against United in Australia, which led to the Red Devils bringing Dubravka in.

The 29-year-old’s deal at Selhurst Park is set to expire at the end of this season.

Butland has made 17 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles since joining in 2020 under Roy Hodgson.
