Palace seeking to halt Premier League losing sequence – next up is struggling Burnley
Crystal Palace head to Burnley’s Turf Moor on Saturday looking to prevent a run of three straight defeats in the Premier League.
The Eagles have lost their last two outings in the top flight, with a 4-0 defeat at Newcastle followed by a 2-1 reverse to Tottenham at Selhurst Park a week ago.
It is the first time manager Roy Hodgson has suffered successive losses since he returned to the club in April.
Burnley have only won one of their first 10 Premier League games since winning promotion from the Championship last season.
The Clarets, 19th in the standings, have lost their last three games but it was reported this week that boss Vincent Kompany has the unwavering backing of the board despite the poor run of results.
Palace will be hoping that one, if not both, of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise will be available. The creative duo, who both suffered hamstring injuries, returned to first-team training this week.
Olise has been out for the entire campaign and Eze has been missing since the 1-0 win over Manchester United on September 30.
Nathan Ferguson is set for a sustained period on the sidelines after suffering a serious hamstring injury in the Premier League International Cup for Darren Powell’s U21 side.
The 23-year-old signed a new one-year deal last summer but has only played eight minutes of senior football for the club since signing from West Brom in 2020.
Nathaniel Clyne made his 200th Crystal Palace appearance in the derby defeat to Spurs.
The defender came through the Eagles academy and made his senior debut as a 17-year-old in a 3-0 win over Barnsley in 2008.
He told PalaceTV: “It’s a big milestone. Hopefully I will make many more.”
