Palace would demand club-record transfer fee for midfielder

Crystal Palace would demand a club-record transfer fee if they were going to consider selling midfielder Cheick Doucoure this summer.

It has been reported that the Eagles would seek a fee in excess of £35million for the Mali international.

However, the South London Press understands that the club would require nearly double that figure even to begin thinking about discussions.

The Athletic reported earlier today that Liverpool are keen on the 23-year-old, who joined Palace last summer from French side Lens in a deal worth up to £26million.

Doucoure made 34 Premier League appearances last season and won the Fans’ Player of the Season award.

Palace’s current record outgoing transfer fee is held by academy graduate Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who left to join Manchester United in a £50million deal in July 2019.

Doucoure has four years remaining on his current deal at Selhurst Park.
