Patrick Vieira makes Michael Olise claim after Crystal Palace’s goalless draw at home to Liverpool

Patrick Vieira believed that Michael Olise produced one of his ‘most complete’ performances for Crystal Palace in yesterday’s goalless draw with Liverpool.

The 21-year-old attacker completed five of his seven dribbles and played two key passes against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Olise, who started against the Reds in an attacking trio behind Jean-Philippe Mateta, has two goals and five assists to his name in all competitions this season.

The French U21 international has made 57 appearances under Vieira since joining from Reading in the summer of 2021.

When asked about Olise’s performance, Vieira said: “He was really important for us when we were in possession – he created those chances for us.

“That was, I believe, one of his most complete games. Even defensively, he was working well and was really smart.

“He is growing – that is really good for us.”

Cheick Doucoure won four tackles and made two blocks during the 90 minutes at Selhurst Park.

“Cheick had a really good game,” said the Palace boss.

“We know that when you play against Liverpool, you need those 11 players to perform because of the quality that they have.

“When you’re looking at Vince to Mateta up front, we worked well, and we worked hard as a team – we were well disciplined.

“The plan that we had, I believe the players executed really well today. The only thing that was missing was to score that goal.”
