Peterborough chairman issues apology to Charlton Athletic after late postponement

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has apologised to Charlton Athletic and their travelling fans after Saturday’s game was called off 90 minutes before kick-off due to a frozen pitch.

The Addicks had received no warning prior to the game that there was any doubt over the playing surface at London Road.

Dean Holden’s side had won their last three outings in League One and were just four points behind Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough side.

The South Londoners were six points off the play-offs before today’s game.

Bristol Rovers vs Wycombe, Morecambe vs Port Vale and Lincoln vs Burton were all also postponed this weekend.

MacAthony Tweeted: “I can only apologise on behalf of my club to Charlton & all away supporters & many of our home supporters who travelled all way to [the] game today for this to happen.

“Words mean little & actions more. I/we will make this right to everybody involved as best I can. More in time on this.”
