Peterborough director of football Fry advises Jonson Clarke-Harris to accept Charlton terms

Peterborough United’s director of football Barry Fry reckons their striker Jonson Clarke-Harris will not receive a better offer than the one made by Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks agreed a fee in the region of £500,000 for the experienced targetman, who is out of contract this summer.

But Charlton have been unable to tie up personal terms with Clarke-Harris.

“Johnno has turned down two contract offers from Charlton,” Fry told the Peterborough Telegraph. “It’s up to him of course, but he isn’t going to get a better offer or a better club in my opinion.

“He could believe he will be financially better off if he leaves for nothing in the summer, but clubs are struggling financially and with financial fair play rules.

“Two Premier League clubs got charged yesterday and I know of half a dozen Championship clubs who are struggling to stay within the rules. The money isn’t there any more.”

Charlton have made two bids for Cheltenham forward Will Goodwin which have not met the valuation of their fellow League One club. Oxford United are also interested in the 21-year-old.
