Player ratings from Crystal Palace’s goalless draw with Everton – Ayew causes havoc for Holgate but Eagles fail to find a way past Sean Dyche’s stubborn side

Crystal Palace and Everton played out a goalless draw on Saturday afternoon.

The point meant Palace stayed nine points clear of the bottom three with six games remaining.

Here are Edmund Brack’s player ratings from Selhurst Park:

SAM JOHNSTONE – 7

Smart stop to deny Alexander Iwobi from distance in the first half. Did not have a huge amount to do in the second half.

JOEL WARD – 7

Ventured forward well and linked up with Michael Olise on a handful of occasions in the first half. 

JOACHIM ANDERSEN – 6

Sensational pass to set up Jordan Ayew in the 13th minute, pinging the ball from his own half to set up a corner.

He was spun by Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the second half, but the Everton forward put his shot wide.

MARC GUEHI – 6

Also played a brilliant pass from his own half to set Eberechi Eze away, who escaped the offside trap. However, the Greenwich-born playmaker failed to bring the ball under his control.

TYRICK MITCHELL – 6

Was walking a tightrope for most of the game after he was booked in the 27th minute.

CHEICK DOUCOURE – 6

Recovered possession several times. Won three of his four tackles. Was replaced by Luka Milivojevic as the game came to an end.

JEFFREY SCHLUPP – 6

Forced Jordan Pickford into a tricky situation early on, chasing down the ball and stopping the goal kick.

Was replaced by Will Hughes in the 70th minute.

EBERECHI EZE – 6

Difficult first half. Thought he gave Palace the lead in the 56th minute, lifting a shot over Pickford. However, he was flagged offside.

Forced an excellent save from Pickford in the 75th minute.

JORDAN AYEW – 8

Delivered an excellent cross within seconds of the start of the first half for Odsonne Edouard. Created another opportunity in the 25th minute, sending a cross towards Jeffrey Schlupp at the back post.

Enjoyed a lot of space against Mason Holgate and continually got the better of the Everton defender.

Forced Mason Holgate into a second yellow card challenge in the 79th minute.

MICHAEL OLISE – 7

An incredible bursting run to drive beyond Vitalii Mykolenko in the first half. Was one of the brightest sparks on the pitch in the first 45. Struggled to impact the game in the second half.

ODSONNE EDOUARD – 5

Had a chance to give Palace the lead after 20 seconds but failed to judge Ayew’s cross correctly.

Was replaced by Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 70th minute.

SUBS 

JEAN-PHILIPPE MATETA – 5

Was exactly the type of striker Keane and Tarkowski wanted to come up against.

WILL HUGHES – 5

Broke into the box in the 88th minute but chose to pass to Olise when he had a clear sight of goal.

LUKA MILIVOJEVIC- 5

Had a shot from distance in the last five minutes of normal time, but an Everton body blocked the shot.
