Charlton boss provides Miles Leaburn injury update ahead of Sheffield Wednesday

Charlton Athletic manager Dean Holden says there is a possibility that Miles Leaburn could return to the matchday squad for tomorrow’s clash at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 19-year-old, who has scored seven times this season in 26 appearances in all competitions, has missed the last three outings in League One with a hip injury.

Macauley Bonne is still searching for his first goal since rejoining the Addicks in January.

“Possibility,” said Holden when asked whether Leaburn could return to the matchday squad at The Valley tomorrow.

“He’s trained a little bit this week. Whether he has done enough to come back into the matchday squad, we will have a little chat with the staff this afternoon on that.

“But there are one or two knocks and niggles.

“Once we get to the game tomorrow, we will have an exact idea of who we have got. There are one or two doubts.”

Darren Moore’s Owls are top of League One on goal difference and are unbeaten in their last 10 outings in the division, winning eight games and drawing twice.

“Darren has done a great job,” said Holden.

“It’s a really good squad of players. They are on a great run of form – there is no getting away from that.

“It will be a great atmosphere at The Valley. I said to the players: ‘These are the games you want to play in League One. It’s two of the biggest clubs going against each other on the pitch.’

“We have to make sure that we do the basics better than we did last week. We’re a good team on our day, but we need to make sure we do it consistently throughout the 90 minutes.

“It’s an exciting game for us.”
