QPR boss Gareth Ainsworth makes prediction over Wigan clash

QPR boss Gareth Ainsworth has predicted a cagey affair in tomorrow’s game away to bottom-of-the-table Wigan Athletic.

The west Londoners have only won one of Ainsworth’s five games in charge – a 1-0 win over Watford – since he took over from former Blackpool boss Neil Critchley.

QPR head to the DW Stadium 19th in the Championship table and three points clear of the relegation zone.

Wigan are winless in their last five outings in the division and are nine points off safety.

Ainsworth hopes to have Chris Willock, Ethan Laird and Leon Balogun all available for tomorrow after the trio played in a B-team match against Birmingham on Monday.

Balogun and Laird completed 45 minutes in the 2-0 win. Willock played 70 minutes before coming off.

“They have got some good players,” the former Wycombe boss told QPR’s official YouTube channel of their opponents tomorrow.

“You’re looking at their team sheet and they have some good players. They’re going to want the three points, but not at the stake of leaving themselves open

“It’s going to be a cagey game. It’s going to be a game a lot will be put on. But we have seven more after this and I’m very confident we can achieve enough points we need to stay in the Championship.”
