QPR boss sets points target total after 2-0 win over Bristol City

Mark Warburton said Queens Park Rangers’ aim is to get to 52 points this season after his side ran out comfortable winners at Bristol City.
Goals from Ilias Chair and Rob Dickie were enough to seal all three points as the Hoops climbed above Nottingham Forest into 16th position in the Championship.
The result leaves them 11 points clear of Rotherham United, who are 22nd with a game in hand, but only two points behind the Robins who occupy 12th and have played two games fewer.
QPR now welcome Wycombe Wanderers to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on Tuesday in the first of three home games in eight days. Those are followed by visits from Huddersfield Town and Millwall.
Warburton told QPR’s website: “The schedule right now is relentless. We use that word too often without really thinking about the implications of it, but it is relentless. We go into a game now on Tuesday, then Saturday, then Wednesday [against Millwall], then Saturday [away to Reading].
“All we can do is manage the load as best we can. We have 43 points and have played two games less than many teams. If we can maximise those we will be in a decent position.
“The first aim is to get to 52 points and then build from there. There are still 39 points to play for, so let’s get as many as we can and we can see where it takes us.”
Jordy de Wijs, who is on loan from Hull City until the end of the season, made his long-awaited debut in the 2-0 win but Geoff Cameron was not involved.
Warburton confirmed Cameron has picked up a “slight knock”, before adding: “We have to make sure we look after the players.”
