QPR boss unhappy at lack of a clinical touch in home reverse to Bristol City

Mark Warburton was left dissatisfied with QPR’s failure to be clinical in front of goal after their 2-1 defeat against Bristol City.

Former Hoops loanee Nakhi Wells scored a stoppage time winner for the Robins, after Sam McCallum had levelled the contest.

Warburton said: “Frustrated is a very polite way of putting how I feel right now. We gave away a very soft goal before half-time, we knew we dominated possession and created a lot more chances, which I think you saw in the second half, we obviously got the goal early in the half and we looked in good shape.

“If you look at the stats we had 26 shots and 11 on target – but we must be more ruthless in front of goal.

“We can talk about the chances, but you have to put the ball in the back of the net and make sure we are defensively solid behind, a slip happened and then Nahki is a good finisher, but it’s the fine margins we have been very good for long periods during the second half, like we were at Bournemouth on Tuesday.

“We dominated for 30-35 minutes and looked very good, as a team we are creating so many chances which is a positive aspect for us, but we have to make sure we get our rewards, and it has cost us today.

“The goal we scored was a scruffy one and the keeper has pulled off some fine saves, but when we create that many chances and that many clear-cut opportunities, we have to recognise the need to be ruthless as a team.

“We are up against professional athletes, Nahki got his chance and took it, we have been very good, we went to Hull, Middlesbrough and Reading and scored three, we have created chances and taken our rewards, but today we dipped our standards in terms of the final product.”
