QPR fail to turn up heat on Millwall after defeat at Stoke City

QPR failed to take the opportunity to close the gap to Championship safety to just one point as they lost 1-0 at Stoke City in midweek.

The R’s are still four points behind 21st-placed Millwall as Wouter Berger’s 45th-minute goal decided the contest at bet365 Stadium.

Prior to that QPR had been on a four-match unbeaten run in the Championship.

R’s head coach Marti Cifuentes said: “I am very disappointed because that is not the result we wanted.

“It was not a great football game from our side, so we need to be critical of ourselves.

“We had a couple of situations in the first half where we could take the lead but the reality is we conceded a corner that we should never concede and a goal that makes the difference.

“There are still a lot of points to play for and a lot of games we need to play. We need to focus again because things in this league change very quickly.”

The west Londoners head to Bristol City on Saturday.
