QPR keeper signs contract extension

Murphy Mahoney has signed a new contract at QPR until the summer of 2024.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper made his debut at Preston North End in April after Kieren Westwood suffered an injury in the warm-up.

“Last season was a big one for me,” said Mahoney, who joined the west London club at the age of 10. “I never wanted any of the goalkeepers to get injured but I just had to make sure I was ready in case I got my chance. It was massive for my development.

“I’ll never forget the travelling fans who got behind me as I jogged out. They filled me with confidence and helped me so much.

“I just want to keep progressing. I want to play as many senior games as possible, if not here then maybe go on loan to develop and see where that takes me.”
