QPR player ratings from 0-0 draw with Plymouth Argyle – Steve Cook stands tall again as Rangers fail to break down 10-man visitors

QPR missed the chance to move out of the Championship relegation zone after being held to a 0-0 draw by 10-man Plymouth Argyle at Loftus Road.

The home side had a man advantage for more than an hour following Dan Scarr’s red card for a reckless challenge on Ilias Chair but were unable to find the breakthrough.

The draw means Rangers have moved within a point of safety and extended their unbeaten run to four games.

Asmir Begovic – 6

Once again reliable when called upon. Pushed away an early effort from Ryan Hardie but was hardly worked following the Plymouth red card.

Osman Kakay – 5

Rarely lets the side down defensively but the difference in terms of attacking threat between Kakay and Reggie Cannon is obvious. Replaced by the USA international at the break.

Steve Cook – 7

Again stood out for Rangers both with his ability to defend his own box and start attacks with his passing. Made one particularly good clearance during his side’s slow start.

Jimmy Dunne – 6

Ended up having a pretty uneventful night following the red card, doubled up well with Cook to stop Plymouth counterattacking effectively.

Kenneth Paal – 6

Started slowly but looked to be combining well with Chair and Chris Willock towards the end of the first half. Taken off at the interval as Marti Cifuentes’ policy of rotation continues.

 Sam Field – 5

Booked less than two minutes in after giving the ball away under little pressure. Has been finding it hard to make telling passes from the deepest midfield position in recent games. Important tackle in the build-up to Plymouth’s red card.

Andre Dozzell – 6

Did well after being moved into a deeper position when Field was taken off at half-time. Made the ball move faster in the middle of the park but was unable to help carve out a match-winning chance.

Chris Willock – 6

Was responsible for creating QPR’s best openings in a good spell towards the end of the first half. His excellent cross could only be turned on to the post by Charlie Kelman from close range. Struggled to have the same impact in the second half.

Charlie Kelman – 5

Started in an unfamiliar position on the right wing and found it hard to impact proceedings. Only Begovic had fewer touches of any QPR player that started the game.

Ilias Chair – 5

Tried his best to force the decisive goal but ended up often making bad decisions on the edge of the Plymouth penalty area. Had five shots without really ever looking like scoring.

Lyndon Dykes – 6

Put himself about once again, and almost found an early goal with a looping header from a Kakay cross. Won plenty of aerial duels but his team-mates could not find the perfect delivery for him to turn home.

Ziyad Larkeche – 6

An energetic showing that was brought to a premature end when he took a knock to the head and had to be convinced to come off by physios and team-mates.

Reggie Cannon – 6

Provided a threat from the right but did not make the most of a couple of good crossing positions.

Elijah Dixon-Bonner – 5

Guilty of making the wrong decisions at key times when in dangerous areas.

Taylor Richards – 5

Had no real impact on the game.

Paul Smyth – 6

Added attacking impetus down the right but was not on for long enough to help Rangers’ force a winner.
