QPR recall Paul Smyth from loan spell at Charlton Athletic

Paul Smyth has officially been recalled by QPR – as exclusively revealed by the South London Press earlier this week.

We reported that Smyth’s stay at Charlton Athletic was set to be terminated.

The Northern Ireland international’s return to west London will bring the amount of loan players at the SE7 outfit back down to five, the maximum you can name in a matchday.

The Addicks did have six on their books after last week’s addition of Preston North End striker Jayden Stockley.

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer said: “I’m disappointed for the lad really, in the way it all panned out. He needs to go and play regular football.

“Smythy is a bubbly character who has helped us. He has played in some vital games and we’ve got some good results in them, whether that was starting or coming off the bench.

“I spoke to him last night and just wished him all the best.”
