QPR striker signs new long-term contract to end speculation over his future

QPR striker Lyndon Dykes has signed a new deal running until the summer of 2026.

The Scotland international had been on Millwall’s radar when they assessed strengthening their frontline options in this window. Since then they have moved to snap up Hibernian’s Kevin Nisbet in a seven-figure deal.

The Lions had also been keen on Dykes in the January transfer window.

The centre-forward was set to head into the final 12 months of his terms with Rangers but has now ended any uncertainty over his future.

QPR head coach Gareth Ainsworth told the club’s official website: “I am really pleased to be able to secure Lyndon because he’s been a fantastic servant so far for the club and he’s only going to get better.

“This is really good news and I’m sure he can lead the line really well for us this year.

“I was gutted he was out when I arrived last season (due to pneumonia) but when he came back, he played a big part and I’m looking forward to getting the best out of him this season because with his international streak at the moment, he’s only going to get better.

“He will run through a brick wall for the team because that’s the character he is.

“He’s at a great age, he loves this club, he gives everything for the club, and that’s part of the mantra that I want from my players.”
