Queens Park Rangers v Charlton Athletic team news: Lyle Taylor makes first Addicks start since August
BY LOUIS MENDEZ
Lyle Taylor makes his first Charlton start since the end of August as the Addicks travel to Queens Park Rangers this afternoon.
The talismanic striker, who is out of contract at the end of the season and has turned down a new offer from the South Londoners, was injured whilst on international duty with Montserrat in early September.
He has featured from the bench in Charlton’s last three games and is finally fit enough to start as his side search for a first win in eleven league games at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium this afternoon.
Taylor comes in for Jason Pearce, with Alfie Doughty replacing Albie Morgan in what are the only changes from last Friday’s 2-2 draw with Hull City.
Naby Sarr, making his 100thappearance for the club, will partner Tom Lockyer as Lee Bowyer switches to four at the back.
Jonathan Leko is expected to drop into the midfield as Taylor and Macauley Bonne lead the line for the Addicks.
Youngster Ben Dempsey appears on the bench as Charlton’s injury crisis continues. It was hoped that both Jonny Williams and Sam Field could return to the squad this afternoon, but they both suffered set-backs during the week.
Charlton: Phillips, Matthews, Lockyer, Sarr, Purrington, Pratley, Doughty, Gallagher, Leko, Taylor, Bonne. Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Oshilaja, Pearce, Ledley, Morgan, Solly, Dempsey.
