Reading’s away form boosts their belief ahead of visit to The Valley

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Mark Bowen wishes his Reading side were better at home – but their positive away results mean they will arrive at Charlton on Saturday full of confidence.

Six of the Royals’ last seven victories in all competitions have come on the road.

Yakou Meite (pictured) scored four times as they thrashed Luton 5-0 last weekend at Kenilworth Road.

“Sometimes clubs have those seasons where they are better away so it’s something we’ve got to be mindful of,” said Bowen after Tuesday’s 0-0 home draw with Huddersfield.

“You want to get that fortress in your own backyard.”

The Royals are set to be boosted by the return of attacker Ovie Ejaria (ankle).

Bowen has talked about freshening up his side and that could mean starts for left-back

Omar Richards, central midfielder Michael Olise and striker Sam Baldock.

Goalkeeper Matt Miazga has served his three-game ban for his clash with Derby’s Tom Lawrence after the full-time whistle at Pride Park but Rafael Cabral has recorded successive shutouts.

Andy Yiadom and Lucas Joao are out with hamstring injuries.
