‘Really unlucky’ – Dons boss Johnnie Jackson explains Burton loanee’s absence
AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson says Burton loanee Charlie Lakin has been unfortunate to have missed out from matchday squads in recent weeks.
The 24-year-old has been absent since the 2-2 draw at home to Crewe, with Jake Reeves and Armani Little returning from injury and slotting back into the starting line-up.
Lakin joined the Dons on deadline day on a six-month loan from the Pirelli Stadium.
Ex-Doncaster and Birmingham midfielder Lakin has not been named in Jackson’s 18-player matchday squad since the draw with Crewe.
“He’s been really unlucky,” Jackson told the South London Press.
“He’s travelled everywhere with the squad because he’s deserved too and it’s been a really difficult one to leave anyone out.
“Everyone has been fit and everyone has put forward a case of being involved, but you can only pick 11 from the start and you can only pick 18 for your squad – it’s been difficult decisions to make.
“Charlie has been a bit unfortunate that the boys have come back into the team and have been doing really well – we have kept it the same.
“His attitude has been excellent and he’s been training really well.
“Although he will be frustrated that he’s not been involved, he’s one that we know will get an opportunity.
“And when he’s called upon, we know we can rely on him too.”
