Richard Riakporhe once again underlines his power with knockout win over Deion Jumah

Richard Riakporhe moved to 14-0 in the professional ranks with an eighth-round stoppage of Deion Jumah at Wembley Arena last night.

It was the Walworth puncher’s 10th inside-the-distance victory.

A big right hand dropped Jumah in the fourth round and the Hammersmith fighter did well to recover and work his way back into the contest.

But Riakporhe ended proceedings in the eighth round with a right to the body which dropped Jumah to all fours and he was unable to beat referee Kevin Parker’s count.

“We got the W [win],” Riakporhe told Sky Sports. “Big respect to Deion Jumah, he was giving me a lot of problems in there. I had to be patient and mentally prepared that he was going to be awkward and slippery.

“I just needed to stay patient and wait for the opportunity – I did and I took it.

“He was getting back into the rhythm, I was giving him too much space. I came out and did what I needed to do. I’ve been through it numerous times when I’ve been behind and had to find a way – I’ve always got that in me.

“I know what I want and there is nothing that is stopping The Midnight Train. I’ve bettered myself because I’ve believed in myself. All I do is fight. You tell me the opponent and me and my team go home and work on it.

“Of course [he’s ready for a world title shot]. Get me in there.”
