Rotherham boss appointment yet to be confirmed – will Matt Taylor take charge against Millwall?

Rotherham United have released a statement about their ongoing manager search – with fresh doubts whether Matty Taylor will be confirmed in time for the home fixture against Millwall tomorrow.

The Millers are managerless after Paul Warne departed for Derby County, ending six years in charge at The New York Stadium.

Rotherham were given permission by Exeter to speak to former Charlton defender Taylor earlier this week. There was even a tweet, that has since been deleted,  from Exeter City Supporters’ Trust saying that the 40-year-old had left to join Rotherham.

Millwall head there on Wednesday evening looking for their first away win since March.

“Rotherham United can inform supporters that conversations with Matt Taylor, his representatives and Exeter City remain ongoing,” said the Millers in a statement issued today.

“Whilst the complexity of these negotiations have resulted in them becoming protracted, the club will ensure that it keeps supporters updated on the outcome when it is appropriate to do so.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Exeter City for their assistance throughout this process so far.

“Meanwhile, the club is continuing to prepare as normal for another important Sky Bet Championship game with Millwall which takes place at AESSEAL New York Stadium on Wednesday night.”
