R’s chief executive confident Ainsworth can deliver upturn in results

QPR will be looking to end a run of six Championship games without a win tomorrow when they take on Huddersfield – with chief executive Lee Hoos standing firmly behind boss Gareth Ainsworth.

The west Londoners are in the bottom three and yet to win at home in the 2023-24 campaign.

Former R’s boss Michael Beale, who left last season to take the Rangers job, would reportedly be open to returning to Loftus Road after being sacked by the Scottish giants.

But Hoos, above, has backed former Wycombe boss Ainsworth. He told The Athletic: “One of the reasons we hired Gareth was that he can adapt, innovate and try new things. He did something different for Blackburn, which didn’t work out.

“But he’ll go back, address that, and he’s done some different things in training the last couple of weeks. I would expect to see us spring forward.

“I’m not sure we always give up possession – the last five games that hasn’t been the case. It had been fairly even.

“There’s been an effort to change that. What drives me nuts is when managers keep saying: ‘We’ve got to do this better’ and do the same thing over and over and expect to get different results.”
