Rugby union: Wimbledon rack up 11 straight win in London & SE Premier

Wimbledon made it 11 straight victories in London & SE Premier with a 25-7 success at Hertford – their bonus point try only scored when the referee played injury time.

From the outset the Wimbledon front row of Jordan Saunders, Josh Forrester and Josh Bayford were able to gain the upper hand.

Lock Jack Cooke went through a gap in a Hertford lineout to claim the opening try on 14 minutes. Outside half Steve Boatman was slightly wide with his conversion attempt.

But he was able to convert four minutes later when a side entry to a maul gave a penalty attempt.

A Hertford forward picked up a yellow card for a tackle on Ollie Kitto – following good interplay from flanker Kain Rix and lock Rob Louw. Hooker Forrester punished the hosts with a try, Boatman kicking accurately to make it 15-0 .

An injury to Jack Reville in the centre enforced a change and centre Joe Brosch made his debut.

Wimbledon’s third try came just before half-time as Boatman scored out near the left touchline.  His conversion attempt was short but the South Londoners led 20-0 at the interval.

The Dons had their only yellow card but were able to play out time for the period they were a man short.

Hertford centre Richard Streets produced a well-taken try under the posts, converted by Kyle Lemon.

Wimbledon’s fourth try came from Forrester after a driving maul.  The conversion was missed.

Wimbledon’s next match is at home to Guernsey on December 7
