‘Sensational’ – Millwall fans earn praise from Gary Rowett for their contribution this season

Gary Rowett has described Millwall fans’ support for his side this season as “sensational”.

The Lions won 3-2 at Blackpool last night to move up to fifth in the Championship table.

It was the second successive long road trip for Millwall, who lost 2-1 at Wigan Athletic the previous weekend.

“The fans were brilliant again,” Rowett told Sky Sports. “They have travelled in numbers. They travelled to Wigan last weekend – didn’t get a result – and they could easily have not turned up tonight.

“They have been sensational this season. The fans are everything for the club and we’re going to need them next weekend.

“We’ve got to put in a gritty performance that gets them off the edge of their seats.”
