Sheffield Wednesday boss hails Dean Holden as the ‘right fit’ for Charlton Athletic

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has described Dean Holden as the ‘right fit’ for Charlton Athletic and has outlined what the 43-year-old has brought to the club.

The Owls won the reverse fixture at Hillsborough 1-0 back in September after an 81st-minute strike from Tyreeq Bakinson.

Should Wednesday avoid defeat at The Valley tomorrow, Darren Moore’s side would set a new club record of 20 games unbeaten in a row.

The Addicks, who were 17th in the League One table when Holden replaced Ben Garner, are now 11th and 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

“Dean [Holden] is doing a great job there,” said Moore, whose side are currently top of the division on goal difference.

“He has brought stability, consistency and a lovely brand of football.

“It’s the right fit for the club – it needed stability. We know about the potential and the threats they possess.

“Dean has got a wonderful desire and temperament, and he expresses that on his team.

“Since he has gone there, it seems there is more consistency with the club.

“We know we have to got to be really, really good as a team to go down there. It’s a wonderful arena to go and play your football.

“We have always had close games with them, and we’re predicting another one again.

“We will take a large following down there.

“It’s two teams making good progress and we go head to head tomorrow. Hopefully, it should be played in a good manner tomorrow.”
